Jay & Robin

Mountain-top Vows
Qambathi - Kamberg, Drakensberg

A more fitting location for Jay & Robin would be tough to come by since these two adventurers love the outdoors quite a lot.  Together with a handful of handpicked friends and family, they tied the knot on top of a mountain in one of South Africa’s most picturesque settings – the mighty Drakensberg.  It was an occasion filled with magical moments from start to finish, from laughter to tears, from relaxing to dancing – this celebration had it all!

Qambathi Mountain Lodge in the Kamberg region of the Drakensberg played host to the guests. They ensured a festive celebration that I’m sure not one of them will ever forget.  If you ever get the chance to visit the Drakensberg, be sure to book your stay at Qambathi.  You will leave there filled with awe, inspiration, and feeling like a breath of fresh air.

The personal vows they wrote for each other was most certainly some of the most heart-touching things I’ve experienced in my long years of shooting weddings.  Pretty much everyone had a massive smile and some tears at some stage during the ceremony.

Jay & Robin are some of the kindest humans you’ll ever meet, and the impact they have on people is just incredible. I could witness how much love and adoration their friends and family have for these two people.  They are both teachers, and I can honestly say that I would love it if teachers of their caliber and quality could educate my kids one day.

Robin wore a fantastic dress and jacket made by one of South Africa’s most talented dress designers – Truvai.  If you are looking for an alternative wedding dress, look no further – these ladies will create a masterpiece for you!  Robin’s wedding dress had pieces from her mother’s wedding dress worked into the dress – that is always such a unique and sentimental thing for me.

The floral arch used in the ceremony was built by the groom and the florals arranged by Natural Nostalgia

Small intimate weddings like these are such a privilege to capture, and I do hope you have a wonderful time scrolling through the story that these photographs tell.

Much love,

Skillie
